About IRTG

The International Research Training Group (IRTG) 2891"Nuclear Photonics" is a joint collaborative project of the Technical University of Darmstadt (TU Darmstadt) and the National University for Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest (UNSTPB).

Within the IRTG, closely related and collaborative research and qualification projects in the field of nuclear photonics are executed with special emphasis on the career development and promotion of junior scientists in the field of nuclear photonics.

The research projects of the IRTG are organized into three project areas:
  1. The development of new sources of laser-generated radiation
  2. Scientific exploitation of photon beams in the MeV range
  3. Advancement of methodology and instrumentation for Nuclear Photonics
The IRTG fosters academic interaction with other research institutions, international cooperation, and equal opportunities.
The research training plan of the IRTG project includes the entire scientific production chain of Nuclear Photonics, from the fundamental methods for the laser-induced generation of photons, and particle beams, their quantitative detection and characterization to their use in fundamental research in nuclear science, astrophysics, or for potential technological applications.
